2024-2029 NSITEN Mi’kmaw Cultural Tourism Strategy (Summary)
2024-2029 Mi’kmaw Sustainable Cultural Development Strategic Summary
Note:  Early in 2023 our NSITEN organization embarked on developing a brand new strategy for Mi’kmaw cultural tourism in Nova Scotia.  While we understand that many of our barriers are long term, there are definite opportunities that we are building upon and growing in many ways.  Here is an outline of some of those initiatives in summary form.

Parrsboro Kluskap Statue Online Survey Form
In the summer of 2022 we began work together with KMKNO and our Elders to identify the next steps for the current Glooscap Statue that still stands in Parrsboro (Cumberland County).

As part of it’s 50+ year life it has seen many visitors that come to learn about the statue’s history.  A middle-school student project in the very early 1970’s where students worked with school teachers and local artists to create this very large paper mache artist’s version of our Kluskap.

In the summer of 2023 we began to work collaboratively to find some new paths forward to identify what will be the best next steps for this statue so we have come up with a survey for Mi’kmaw people to share their voices and help in the next steps of the project.
